I think all of these are good options, but I've seen good recommendations already. Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow is good too, although it is a send off to the Silver Age Superman. Kingdom Come, All-Star Superman, Red Son. Tomasi book is great because it goes back to the original Supes everyone loves. Even the Grant Morrison version is very love/hate it. One of my favourite sagas is New Krypton (Brainiac is also by Johns and it is pretty much a prelude to this) buuut it's not in an Omni format and there are a lot of books to find. I've been reading DC for about 6 months, and for now I have only read Secret Origins of Superman. Post Return (aka Mullet Superman) is not a good era for him and it would only get better with Geoff Johns (Last Son of Krypton, Secret Origin). 4 Volumes, then Exile Omni and then Death/Return of Superman Omni. Man of Steel by John Bryne is the main series to get if you're looking for Classic Superman.
